Quokka Care is pleased to share that we are currently working towards registration to provide Aged Care services under the Australian Government’s new Support at Home program.

While we are not yet delivering these services, we are actively progressing through the registration process and look forward to offering Support at Home services in the near future.

Providing care is at the heart of what we do. As an established provider in the disability sector, Quokka Care has built its services around genuinely personalised, high-quality support that puts people first. We know that no two individuals are the same, and we believe care works best when it is flexible, respectful, and tailored to each person’s needs and goals.

That same approach is what’s driving our move into aged care. The Support at Home program is an exciting step forward, and one we see as a natural extension of our existing work. As we expand into this space, our focus remains the same, which means delivering thoughtful, reliable care that helps people stay independent and live well at home.

Support at Home Explained

From 1 November 2025, Australia’s aged care system at home changed. The new Support at Home program replaced the former Home Care Packages program, introducing a simpler and more flexible framework for how care at home is organised and funded.

The new system places a stronger emphasis on choice, transparency, and personalised support; helping older Australians better understand their options and plan care around what matters most to them.

As this new model continues to roll out, Quokka Care is preparing for the opportunity to support people navigating Support at Home in the future, subject to registration and approval under the program.

How Quokka Care Intends to Support People

Quokka Care is building its understanding of the Support at Home program so that, in time, we can help people make sense of how the system works and what it may mean for their care options.

Our aim is to make the aged care system easier to understand and navigate, drawing on our experience in personalised support services.

In the future, this may include helping people to:

  • Understand what has changed under and what has remained the same

  • Map personal goals to the new service categories

  • Plan for and track quarterly care budgets

  • Understand self-management options and care coordination models

  • Navigate compliance, safety, and administrative requirements

As we progress toward registration, our focus is on ensuring we are well prepared to offer informed, person-centred support when services become available. We also aim to provide clear, practical information - including articles, FAQs, and tools such as a Client Contribution Calculator - to help people stay informed as the system continues to evolve.

About the Support at Home Program

The Support at Home program represents a significant reform of Australia’s aged care system. It introduces a more consistent and transparent approach to care at home, while giving older Australians greater influence over how their care is structured.

Rather than being a simple rebrand, the program changes how services are funded, how supports are grouped, and how individuals interact with providers.

1. Quarterly Budgets

Daily subsidies have been replaced with quarterly funding periods, offering greater predictability and flexibility when planning care.

2. Clear Service Categories

Services are now grouped into three defined areas:

  • Clinical care

  • Independence support

  • Everyday living support

This structure is intended to make it easier to understand what supports are available and how funding can be used.

3. New Client Classifications

Participants fall into one of three groups:

  • Grandfathered

  • Hybrid

  • New

Each classification affects funding rules and fee contributions, making it important for individuals to understand where they sit under the new system.
